Less is more than enough
Ever since being kicked out of Spanish in the 8th grade (which I now regret), photography has been part of my life. I went from Spanish class to yearbook, working as one of the junior high photographers. The longer I'm involved in photography, the more I love the medium and the craft. Photography is my creative outlet, the way I express myself, and the way I tell stories.
I joined the Boise Camera Club so I could meet other people interested in photography. They are a great group of people, with some incredible photographers. I learn something new every meeting. If you live anywhere in the Treasure Valley, I highly recommend joining - or at least visiting - this group.
Since joining the club, my photography has progressed. My photographic vision and voice have changed and I think I've grown as a photographer more in the last year than in the previous 30 years. Subject, rather than subject matter, has become the most important part of a photo to me. Subject matter is what the photo is of: a building, a person, a tree, etc. Subject, on the other hand, is what the photo is about: sadness, pattern, repetition, excitement, etc.
Two main themes have emerged in my photography: minimalism and emotion. When I look at other photographer's work, these are the two characteristics that instantly capture my eye. My purpose has changed. I don't want a picture of a lake - I want a picture of a lake that helps me tell a story.
I hope you'll be affected by my photos or that they'll make you ask questions. Some of them aren't great photos, technically speaking.
But they are all on here because I like them.
